2025 Class Descriptions

Friday Daylong Intensives

L-Basing Flow with Acro.Mash 

Ahoy, mateys! Join Acro.Mash on the high seas for an L-basing intensive that will delve into the very depths of Davy Jones' Locker. Including their original washing machines, buttery-smooth entries and exits, and performable vignettes, this workshop will explore a whole hoard of L-base treasure. Avast ye!

Pre-Reqs: none

 

Acro Choreo with Laura & Joseph 

Blending acrobatics with dance can be a challenge for many. In this day-long intensive, we’ll help you bridge the gap between these two art forms. You’ll gain new skills, explore seamless sequences, and refine the transitional moments that tie it all together—all while adding your unique creative flair. We’ll focus on musicality, timing, and fluidity, while also encouraging you to step outside traditional base and flyer roles for a fresh perspective.

Pre-Reqs:  2-high, standing bird, some experience in inlocate to 2-high, standing H2H (preferred- but not required),  

Icarian with Devin, Courtney, & Kylee

Business in the front, party in the back! This daylong is going to pop off with a solid review of intermediate material and will progress into flips and spins in the afternoon (maybe even some flips that also spin!). The structure of this daylong will allow students to work the movements they most desire coaching in while providing a charcuterie of sick skills to sample. Come with fresh energy and be willing to spot like a ninja, the more prior Icarian experience the better and we will make sure to meet you at your level! 

Pre-Reqs: throne to bird & bird to throne pops, some experience linking pops, ease getting into reverse star

 

Progressive Partner Acrobatics with Micah & Moonbeam

Micah and Moonbeam are excited to facilitate an exploration of several standing Acro skills in the categories of:  Pitching, Standing F2H/H2H, and Dance Lifts.  We will work on building sequences to test our pathways and timing as pairs. 

Pre-reqs: Straight Pitch to Catch Hips, Inlocate to H2H (or Boom Boom), 2 Entrances to Standing foot to hand. 

*Please note that these skills need to be with the partner you are working with during the Friday intensive

 

Saturday

Session 1

Intro to Icarian with Matt & AJ 

If you’ve started exploring dynamic acro movements (i.e., “pops”) and you’re ready, but not sure how, to level-up to Icarian games—full-release throwing and catching skills—then this is the class for you!  We will introduce the basics for flying and basing roles, as well as good spotting techniques, and show you how to begin training these skills safely and progressively, or refine what you’ve already learned so you can fly higher!

Pre-Reqs: Reverse Star, 1-minute plank hold, Some experience with pops would be helpful

 

Eat your Veggies!! With Laura & Joseph

Drills for skills! In this session, we’ll zero in on targeted drills to enhance the look and feel of your foot-to-hand and hand-to-hand. We’ll give you exercises designed to strengthen the pathways to mono skills and to work on timing for future dynamic skills.

Pre-reqs: Very comfortable in a 10 second L-basing F2H and H2H hold, low and extended on back.  

 

Swish & Flick with Matt & Ash

Whip-pops can look like wizardry when done smoothly, or like troll boogers when done sloppily. Drop in to Acro.Mash's Department of Whip-ardry to clean up your technique, nerd out on progressions, and study to pass your O.W.L.s - Ordinary Whipping Levels.

Pre-reqs: Your strongest folded leaf ever, an (optional) sacrum support for bases, and the willingness to spot like a badass. 

 

One Foots & One Arms with Micah & Moonbeam

Micah and Moonbeam LOVE both of these balance skills. They are the bread and butter of their practice. Whether you are just beginning your journey of single point or are fine tuning, we will be offering lots of small drills and guidance to you in what to look for. A lot of it tends to come back to building communication around the point of connection, whether it is feet or hands. 

You will get the most out of this class if you have some experience with one-foots and knots. 

Pre-Reqs:  Stable standing foot to hand and hand to hand.

Lunch:

Lunch-time Talk–How We Show Up: Tools for Conflict & Accountability in Acro with Sirus

In this conversation, we'll explore some concrete processes for negotiating conflict within our acro practice and in acro partnerships. The discussion will draw from live examples to introduce a process of immediate triage and response for conflict, and then will move to offering concrete tools for building more community and relational accountability to manage contentious dynamics and center marginalized experiences.

Session 2

Dynamic Prep – How high do you think you can fly? with Christina & Matt 

This is a beginner’s class to introduce standing dynamic intros and exits, and is meant for anyone who is looking to begin their journey with standing acrobatics. Some of the skills we will tackle to get high will include two-high, cradle catch, torch, cradle pops, and more! This class will be a foundational class that will focus on drills and exercises to help both bases and flyers focus on body awareness in standing acrobatics.

Pre-requisites: None

 

Rev Up Your Rev Star with Sam & Courtney

Nerd out about your free balance inversions and learn how to adapt them for both dynamic and flowing movement. We'll dig into the technique for static balance as well how we modify and train for popping to and from free balances and incorporating free balance into L-base flow/machines.

Pre-Reqs: Consistent and solid entrance to Reverse Star. Helpful to be playing with Free Star and/or Free Rev Star already.

 3-highs with Cody, Laura & Joseph

This hybrid intermediate/advanced class will cover drills, progressions, and climb technique for trios wanting to explore 3 highs for the first time. Simultaneously, for trios who already have a 3 high practice, we will teach two exits to train while in lines. One exit resulting in a trio counter balance and another exit resulting in a duo hand to hand. Two separate groups will exist during the same class, intermediate group and advanced group. 

Intermediate Class Pre-Reqs: Comfortable in two high, Mids/Bases are comfortable basing two high with movement drills. 

Advanced Class Pre-Reqs:  3 high in lines with maximum of 2 step correction for 10 second hold & controlled exit of choice. 

 

Flipping to Foot to Foot with Devin & Kylee

Fun with foot to foot: This is the class you’ve been waiting for. Flipping up to foot to foot. 

Pre- reqs:  If you haven’t been waiting for this class, it may not be for you.  Prior experience in foot to foot. 

Session 3:

Asym Basym with Chelsea & Jackie

In the midst of this fast-paced festival, we'll slow down together to explore the nuances of challenging L-base balances. If you like funky and technical skills, this is the class for you!

Pre-reqs:  Jumping into shoulder stand with 30 second hold, 30 second handstand against the wall, base and flyer comfort shifting weight toward mono's. 

 

The Yellow Brick Road to Hand to Hand with Megan & Whitney

Wish you could defy gravity with standing hand to hand? In this class, we’ll teach you to follow the yellow brick road to what is many of our first dream skills. Although achieving a quiet, consistent H2H takes time, this class will teach you the fundamental skills and drills to start your journey. 

Pre-reqs: Controlled walking two high. Confident 15s low foot to hand. Flyers: 20s handstand on the wall (preferably with straddle-up entrance) *Pre-reqs will be tested, but you can always audit the class. 

 

Castaways with Andy & Katie

Castaways! This skill is fun, flashy, and exciting while still being accessible.  Come learn how to throw and spot this foundational Icarian skill so that you can start linking it with other pops!

Pre-reqs: Comfort with bird pops and reverse star.

 

Coached Jam: Bring Your Own Skills 

This will be a jam with 3-4 of our teachers available for coaching. Please bring your own skills, spotters and ideas. There will be lines available for use during this jam. 

Pre-reqs: None.

 

Sunday

Session 1  

 

Mountain Climbing with Brandon & Meirav

Flex your mind and muscles with this brain and body teaser. In Colorado, we climb rocks, we climb mountains, and sometimes we even climb people. Join us to learn creative drills and machines that will engage your mind and your obliques. Inspired by slackcro, we’ll build a foundation of counterpoint balance, leading up to the symmetrically seductive original machine Mountain Climber, what all the kids these days are calling their new favorite core workout.

Pre-reqs: 30 second stable bird hold with one arm and one leg, stable transitions from shin-to-foot to foot-to-shin, great and patient communication skills.

 

Catapult to the Moon! Andy & Tylyn 

3, 2, 1, Fire! We'll be playing with skills that take fundamental pops to new heights. We'll engage with progressions, practice, level-ups, and add-ons to Catapult, preparing to launch our fliers as medieval artillery over the enemy castle walls. 

Pre-reqs: Solid reverse star and comfort with basic pops.

 

Unusual and funky Pitches with Hobs & Courtney

Pitches from funky positions to surprising places! Use the base as a springboard to catch some air :) 

Pre-Reqs: Standing F2H with 3 base squats, and 3 flyer squats without losing balance.

 

Cannon Ball! with Micah & Moonbeam

In this class we will be offering a thorough breakdown of drills and skills to iron out your

Cannon Ball pathway. Even if you already perform the Canon Ball entry, this class will offer some good refinements to improve your technique. 

Pre-Reqs: inlocate to H2H, 3 Controlled Base Squats (flyer in H2H), Active Spotting.

  

Session 2:

Washing Machine Wonders with Lauren & Debbie

Lauren Risting and Debbie Collis are joining forces for an engaging class all about Washing Machines. This workshop is designed to enhance your skills and shift your perspective on the process. Whether you enjoy following detailed instructions or prefer smooth transitions, we will teach you how to create a seamless flow while working with various machines.

Pre-reqs: Thinkers and Side Stars.

 

Boom Boom Pow Pow with Monica & Linnea

The Boom Boom Pow Pow is the inlocate’s chiller younger sibling. Inlocate to two high (BOOM), jump to H2H (BOOM), land softly on shoulders (POW), hop to static carry-down (POW); come learn this perfect dynamic H2H calibration sequence.

Pre-reqs: Standing h2h jump-in and 10s hold, and static carry-down from two-high.

 

Twisting Icarian with Hobs & Courtney

Pops that change direction mid flight! 

Pre-Reqs: Star Corbette to Reverse Throne, or Rev Star Corbette to Throne (any direction).

 

Dynamic Skills – How high can you actually fly? with Christina & Matt

This class is a continuation of our dynamic prep class where we will be using lines to teach corbettes, cascades and other dynamic skills appropriate for each pair. Each pair will need to demonstrate a higher level of control to attempt these skills successfully, even with lines. Please come with a calibrated partner and it is highly suggested to have been to our dynamic prep class.

Pre-reqs: Hand to hand bump to extension and return to low hand to hand in a low squat.

Session 3:

Bedtime Story with Matt & Ash

Join Acro.Mash for the perfect blend of relaxation, spookiness, and comfort that makes a good sleepytime L-base flow. We'll have levels up and down for customization, strange poses for pondering, and satisfying transitions for contentment.

Pre-reqs: comfort in side star and couch will be helpful.

 

Hard Moves and Soft Balance with Sam & Luka

Int/Adv L-base flow focused on developing finesse in moments of both balance and strength for continuous elegant movement. Includes handsfree transitions, slackro balances, and traditional L-base strong-flyer moves. Options to level up or down.

Pre-reqs: Comfort with transitions from hip to hip as in Rotisserie and Big Lemoi. Experience w/ Croc would be helpful, but there are substitutions available.

 

Pitch to Reverse F2H (FOOSUP!) with Monica & Amanda

Join us for a comprehensive introduction to the pitch to reverse F2H, also known as FoosUp, starting from the basics of reverse F2H and pitch foundations, and progressively building the skills and timing needed for successful execution. Come learn this dynamic entry as a way to begin or advance your journey in standing dynamic skills!

Pre-reqs: Climb up to two high, 1 base quarter squat, safe exit with communication.

 

Martini with a Twist with Devin & Kylee

Add a little twist to your martini to spice up your practice. This is a refresher on martini while we move towards adding spins. 

Pre-Reqs: Unspotted castaway with the partner you will be working with.

 

Session 4:

Creative Counterbalance Flow with Kira & Emily

In this All-Levels class we will be exploring sharing weight to hold each other up in a variety of shapes. At the end of the class you will have a flow from one pose to the next! Counterbalances make for great picture poses too!

Pre-Reqs: None, but experience with Flag would be helpful. 

 

Next Level Tik Toks with Chelsea and Jackie 

Join us for a playful and challenging exploration of out and back and side to side L-basing pathways. Together we’ll flow through dynamic entrances and exits to your favorite skills.

Pre-reqs:  (L-Base) familiarity in low h2h, Croc, F2H low and high. 

 

Spincycle: Mastering the art of bed spinning with Lauren & Debbie

Come learn what it takes to be "good in bed" with long time acrobats Lauren Risting and Debbie Collis. This class will walk you through a series of increasingly difficult bed spinning skills. We will work on smart and soft base feet and tight flier spinning and positioning. If you've ever wanted to learn to be a master at bed spinning, this is the class for you.

Pre-reqs: Comfort with Icarian straight throws. 

 

Coached Jam: Bring Your Own Skills 

This will be a jam with 3-4 of our teachers available for coaching. Please bring your own skills, spotters and ideas. There will be lines available for use during this jam.
